British-Kazakh Society charity marathons in Astana and Almaty in support of “Breathe, baby!” project of the AYALA charity foundation

This autumn the British-Kazakh Society (BKS) together with Akimats of Astana and Almaty held charity races in Astana (BKS half marathon in Astana on 22 September 2012, and BKS 10k in Almaty on 30 September 2012).

Kazakhstan’s boxing Olympic champions Serik Sapiyev, Adilbek Nyazymbetov, Ivan Dychko and Marina Volnova supported the British-Kazakh Society’s initiative and personally attended the events. The charity runs, organised by the BKS for the fourth year in Kazakhstan, are popular among diplomats, foreign and local companies, students and ordinary citizens, as well as Kazakhstani businessmen and government bodies. Total donations of 7 million and 674 thousand tenge raised in Astana and Almaty enabled the AYALA charity foundation to purchase medical equipment for Petropavlovsk city regional prenatal centre.

  • Fastest woman – Nurgul Baimendinova, distance 21.1k, time 1:45:50
  • Corporate winner – Kamkor Management team

Winners of the BKS 10k charity run in Almaty:
  • Fastest man – Yerzhan Zhanmailov, distance 10k, time 00:42:22
  • Fastest woman – Anel Akiyanova, distance 10k, time 00:57:33
  • Corporate winner – Sberbank team
