Notes to editors
Of the 242 oil and gas fields in Uzbekistan, 110 have been developed in the last 20 years. Extensive reserves have recently been discovered in the Ustyurt Plateau, Surgil, East Berdakh and Uchsai fields. A new area of development is the production of synthetic fuels using the South African company, Sasol’s gas-to-liquid technology, which will form the basis of a new gas-to-liquid processing facility in Uzbekistan aimed at increasing the range of natural gas products, improving fuel quality and reducing harmful emissions.
