The WPC Executive Committee Meeting will be held in Astana in early October 2012 as part of the 7th KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum.

According to the KazEnergy Association’s statement circulated on Monday, the 20th World Petroleum Congress opened in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The theme of the jubilee Congress is Energy Solutions for All: Promoting Cooperation, Innovation, and Investment.

The Kazakhstan delegation (KazEnergy Association and KazMunayGas NC JSC) started with participation in the meeting of the WPC National Committees, where the Executive Committee members and the new President of the organisation were elected. WPC President Randy Gossen will be succeeded by Renato Tado Bertani of Brazil for the next three years.

According to KazEnergy, “the consistent work of the Kazakhstan National Committee headed by Timur Kulibayev yielded the election of Astana as the venue for the next meeting of the WPC Executive Committee”.

“On 21 October 2010, speaking at the WPC Executive Committee Meeting in Beijing, Dzhambulat Sarsenov, General Director of KazEnergy and a member of the WPC Kazakhstan National Committee, made the relevant proposal, and Randy Gossen announced today that the meeting would be held in the capital of Kazakhstan in early October 2012 as part of the 7th KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum,” runs the statement.

Established in 1933, the World Petroleum Council (WPC) now unites more than 60 countries. WPC’s main task is to hold the World Petroleum Congress to discuss and exchange information among oil industry representatives of the WPC Member Countries. In 2008, at the KazEnergy Association’s initiative, Kazakhstan was admitted to the World Petroleum Council.
