Protection against extreme abrasion – WEICON WP epoxy resin system
![]()
WEICON, manufacturer of adhesives and sealants from Germany, has developed a special epoxy resin system for the protection of heavily used surfaces – WEICON WP Plastic Metal.
The epoxy resin system can be used for regeneration of worn metal surfaces or as a wear-resistant coating. A high level of protection is achieved, when the wear is caused by particles impacting from the side.
WEICON WP is a ceramic filled, pasty, two-component system based on epoxy resin.
It avoids metal loss and replaces previously used wear resistant alloys, ceramic tiles or rubber linings, as well as welded metal coatings.
The coating of surfaces with WEICON WP has some advantages, such as extreme wear protection, it has a high strength and is impact resistant, has a very good resistance against chemicals and represents an economical alternative to traditional solutions.

Suitable for many industrial applications
Plastic Metal WP is used in many areas of industry, such as on pumps, screw conveyors, separators, slides, chutes, bins or filter systems.
Plastic Metal
The term Plastic Metal describes epoxy resin systems, which consist of two components, a resin and a hardener. Depending on the type, the resin component is mixed with steel, aluminium powder or mineral fillers, all of which improve the technical characteristics, such as the compressive strength and thermal conductivity.
The epoxy resin system is suitable for a broad range of applications in different industrial areas. Plastic Metal can be used, for example, in industrial production for bonding, coating, as a casting compound, wear protection and for quick and long-lasting repairs to various materials.
After mixing the two components, the plastic metal cures at room temperature to a solid, metal-like material, which can then be machined. It can be drilled, milled, sanded or filed, if required.
