KIOGE 2009, the 17th Kazakhstan International Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference, will take place in Almaty on 6-9 October. The event is rightly recognised by the international oil and gas community as an important informational and, indeed, political platform in the oil industry. Over the years, the exhibition has reflected the changes in the country’s oil and gas industry, and the growing interest of more and more countries in the industry.
Over the 17 years, KIOGE has developed into an annual working forum of an international scale. During this time, 6500 companies have taken part in the exhibition, more than 120,000m² of exhibition space have been used, and over 10,000 people have attended the conference.
The participants of the exhibition and conference include “the locomotives of international economies”: major transnational oil and gas companies, domestic operators of oil and gas production fields and service providers. The key participants include the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the national company KazMunaiGaz and its subsidiaries, Chevron, CNPC, Tengizchevroil (TCO), NCOC, KPO, B.V., Lukoil, Total, KazGiproNefteTrans, MunaiGaz-Engineering Group, NIPI Neftegaz, and Caspian Pipeline Consortium. These partners have supported KIOGE almost from the outset and throughout the past 17 years. This cooperation has ensured that the events are as effective as possible. Many serious issues have been addressed during the exhibition and conference.
Although in recent years the qualitative and quantitative composition of KIOGE has been stable, development has in no way stopped. On the contrary, there have been numerous achievements and new avenues are opening up for further growth.
This year, more than 600 companies from 30 countries are expected to take part in KIOGE. The following companies have already confirmed their participation: NCOC, Lukoil, Total, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating, Chevron, KazGiproNefteTrans, MunaiGaz-Engineering Group, NIPI Neftegaz, KazPetroMash, Caspian Pipeline Consortium, Invensys, Innovation Norway and Inpex. National groups from Germany, Holland, the UK, Italy and France will also participate in KIOGE.
The event is organised by the Kazakhstani exhibition company Iteca and the international group of exhibition companies ITE Group (UK), with partners from Russia, Germany, Turkey, China and other countries. Since its establishment, KIOGE has been held under the patronage and with the annual participation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the national company KazMunaiGaz.
The organisers have prepared a wide-ranging programme, which includes various events for oil and gas industry professionals. For example, the exhibition traditionally includes a job fair. Representatives of human resources departments and recruitment consultants will look for people keen to work in regional and international companies in the oil and gas industry. The main job seekers are young oil and gas sector specialists, graduates of specialised universities and courses, and experienced industry professionals. The following companies have already confirmed their participation in the fair: NCOC, Brunel, Fircroft, Karachaganak Operating Company BC (KPO), the Association of British Graduates, Bolashak and many others.
The KIOGE conference will take place on 7-8 October 2009 in the InterContinental Hotel in Almaty, Kazakhstan. More than 1000 delegates will take part in the event. The conference programme includes talks by senior representatives of a number of oil and gas companies.
This year, at least 15,000 oil and gas industry specialists are expected to visit the exhibition and conference.
